RAVAGE BY RAJ SHROFF WAS A NEW AGE BRIDAL COLLECTION
The Indian bride gets a new look from Raj Shroff for his Ravage label at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2010. His aim was to give a very up market look which is also integrated with handloom fabrics along with the popular silk, chiffon, net and an inspiration which moves from nature to the glamorous look for the Great Day.
With dark green being the focal colour for many of the creations along with red ivory and yellow, the designing and detailing revolved around the intricate leaf patterns that fall into this colour category. For the free spirited bride of the New Age Raj added on cuts and silhouettes which were ultra modern, fluid and completely balanced the beautiful textiles of Karnataka which were selected with great care.
The press release which was a blank white sheet with just three words “Alice is Lost” pertained probably to the bride of the 21st century who prefers to wear an experimental line of layered feminine creations. Asymmetry was abundant throughout as fabrics and silhouettes came together in a profusion of textures.
Handkerchief hemlines, panelled net multi coloured long skirts and 3D floral appliqués blossomed on the lehengas and delicate jackets. Tunics and sheer covers with buttoned bodices flowed down, while lean tubes bunched the full skirts under them.
Raj ended the show with some New Age lehengas with red/green panels worn with sheer covers and a swirling net organza long skirt sprinkled with blossoms.
For the girl looking for something that does not move on the traditional path then the laid back look from Raj Shroff will be a comfortable and relaxed option on her wedding day.
REHANE’S WOMEN’S LINE WAS IDEAL BRIDAL AND FESTIVE WEAR
Moving away from her usual cute mini dresses with frothy skirts and lots of rose embroidery, Rehane opted for the bridal and festive wear collection for the first time at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2010. With her favourite fabric – velvet and lots of gold cutwork for tunics, dupattas, skirts and cropped pyjamas Rehane dreamt up a fascinating look.
There was a line up of colourful rich fabrics and hues that gave a wide choice to the bride. From velvet, silk, satin, to georgette, net and brocade the Indian churidars and pants with heavy embroidery to saris and kurtas with gold cutwork were dazzling.
Rehane opened the show with a grey velvet lehenga and blouse with a gold cutwork scarf and moved to more gold cutwork creations. A red tunic had a lush embellished border, the traditional farshi pants were teamed with wrap around cutwork tunics, the saris were created with multi patch horizontal embroidered stripes and the black draped wrapped dress had shimmering touches on the yoke and sleeves.
