NEETA LULLA’S SILVER JUBILEE SHOW BROUGHT BOLLYWOOD GLAMOUR ON THE CATWALK AT LAKMÉ FASHION WEEK WINTER/FESTIVE 2010

pening the spectacular silver jubilee show of top Bollywood designer Neeta Lulla, was well known singer Mansi Scott crooning the number “Defying Gravity” from the popular musical “Wicked” and dedicated it to the success of Bollywood’s award winning designer.

Celebrating her silver jubilee in the business of fashion, the very glamorous and talented Neeta, one of Bollywood’s favourite designers was inspired by her wide spectrum of work over the two decades as she unveiled a powerful glamorous collection at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2010 on the final day.

Playing with colours and bringing in a scintillating fusion of the east and west into her garments, Neeta maintained her characteristic touch. Style and substance was seen in abundance as stunning bridal ensembles with nude lining, rich embellishments on garments with glittering Swarovski crystals proved that the designer was keen on unleashing large doses of opulence on the ramp. The pre-stitched sari now reinvented by Neeta into a form fitting version will be a hot seller with Indians as well as foreign buyers.

Colours were vibrant yellow, orange, turquoise, blue, mauve, flame red, gold and emerald green. Using 3D rosettes as the main detailing Neeta had them cascading from shoulders, gowns, saris and even as garlands around the neck.

The fabrics were rich silks, satin, chiffon, net and crepe all moulded into figure hugging and sexy creations. Presenting each style in different colours with subtle differences, the show was a quick ultra dazzling line of dramatic creations.

Pleating appeared on mini dresses, on yokes of lehengas and the bodice of one shoulder gowns. Cholis were tiny and encrusted with crystals, while kurtas and kurtis were dramatic with asymmetric swirling hemlines. They were teamed with long skirts, Turkish pants or draped salwars. The net lehenga/sari combos draped over silver churidars glittered with crystal motifs. Impressive silver head pieces were the final touch for the spectacular ensembles.

The show stopper was the beauteous Bollywood star Sridevi in a sensational silver will-power fish tail gown bringing to end a fantastic show.
