SHILPA CHAVAN, SAILEX AND VIZYON MADE A GREAT DIVERSE TRIPLE STYLISH IMPACT ON THE RAMP AT LAKME FASHION WEEK WINTER/FESTIVE 2010

SHILPA CHAVAN’S EXTREME HEADGEAR DAZZLED ON THE CATWALK

A show by Shilpa Chavan for her Little Shilpa label is always a breathtaking experience as the audience marvels at the limits of her creativity and where it will finally reach. This season her show had an almost surreal feel with a touch of the 20s influence and maybe an inspiration from the netherworld.

The bandanas around the heads were the base of the elaborate head pieces that spiraled up and outward in majestic forms. With net as the base, the show opened with a wired swirl lit by red fairy lights around the body. Soon creations rose from and around the faces of the male and female models in shades of grey and nude. Plastic bustiers and metres of net drapes around the body balanced the head gear perfectly. Petals, spirals, peaks, towers, some with Plexiglas for a sky scraper like head dress; showed Shilpa’s extreme designing talents.

The final all black wired net head gear crafted in intricate swirls with Plexiglas and a futuristic skirt proved that when it comes to designing accessories that one wants to make an impact with, then Shilpa Chavan will provide the most unbelievable creations.

SAILEX NGAIRANGBAM GAVE AN INTERESTING TWIST TO RED CARPET WOMEN’S WEAR

Cute romantic dresses and gowns for girls who want to reveal their total feminine charms were created by Sailex Ngairangbam for the Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2010 show. Calling his collection “Fallen Angel”, Sailex chose some appropriate fabrics like velvet, chiffon and crepe that fitted in beautifully with his theme but stuck to a colourful palette like black, flesh, tomato, grey, magenta, navy and purple.

But there were interesting silhouettes and metallic hints with gold chains that added to the glitter and girlie charm of the creations. There was a touch of contradiction in the ensembles with the negative and positive looks as velvet and chiffon came together in an unconventional manner whether it was for colours, styles or embellishments.

Funky tiered flapper skirt, a pin tucked bodice crepe jumpsuit, tomato chiffon empire line gown, dusty lilac one sleeved jumper with gold edging, navy crepe strapless jumpsuit with studded epaulets and the final black crepe gown with sheer embroidered back; all spelt Red Carpet glamour. Pleating, drapes and glittering external shoulder pads made great fashion statements from Sailex.

For a youthful trendy evening wear line, Sailex Ngairangbam presented a beautifully crafted collection that will appeal to the fashion conscious around the world.

VIZYON’S STRIKING LINE OF WOMEN’S WEAR WAS IDEAL FOR THE COMING SEASON

The designing duo of Shradha Murarka and Ninon Palisse, under their label Vizyon created utterly feminine and beautiful garments. Their collection called “Enchanting Nymphs” was a delicate line with ethereal touches for the woman who loves to wear clothes that speak a language all their own for her.

With fluid goddess like lines the very elegant silhouettes highlighted the mille-feulles of organza created into petal shaped dresses, delicate gowns fitted with swirls of tulle and the flowing silk jerseys with shimmering embroidery with precious stones. The colour palette moved from sexy purple and vibrant green to more sombre tones with white adding that neutral touch.

The first glamorous entry was made by the short draped abstract floral printed silk jersey dress with a precious stones embroidered cage. It was followed by finely crafted long draped gowns with hints of gold, layered and curved petal dresses, a line of seductive flame red long goddess gowns, draped jumpsuit in purple jersey, a glittering gold mini under a long draped dress in forest green and finally the stunning turquoise evening gown in degrade draping and sequins with petal moulded bodice.

Predominantly a cocktail and evening wear line, the clothes by Vizyon were meant for the woman who adores style with a romantic touch which makes a graceful fashion statement.
