ARJUN AGGARWAL’S EVENING WEAR LINE WAS A FABULOUS COLLECTION
Get set for some exciting evening wear, where the cocktail dress will set the mood for a romantic date in the moonlight. Arjun Aggarwal showed that there is nothing more glamorous than an elegant dress to make a woman feel like a million dollars at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2010.
When the colour palette is just right for the inspiration, it has to be the impressive black and white combo with red and olive adding excitement. Arjun worked with silhouettes that had that sexy seductive with Swarovski crystals; a look that women who want to make a first impression will be delighted with.
Detailing ranged from origami, pleating, cowls and at times the necklines and seleves were draped to perfection. Pintucks were sprayed from one shoulder and geormetric colour blocking added to the charm of the garments.
Interesting outfits were the cross over draped will power dress, the gown with draped shoulder scarf in brown, the cuffed bubble in black and the lined with black bib dress in rust silk.
Here was a collection that Arjun Aggarwal felt would make the modern women both in India and abroad acquire that romantic elegance that they have always longed for.
SOUGAT PAUL EMERGED AS AN INNOVATIVE CREATOR OF STYLISH WOMEN’S WEAR
With a very unconventional title “Farang Ding Dong” which means the “Crazy Foreigner” in Thailand, Sougat Paul for his label Soup revealed an interesting quirky collection at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2010.
Using embroidered frames, padung neck rings and buttons for cocktail wear; it was a mish mash of designs which came together really well. The colour story was arresting and bright with mixes of different hues. Fabrics moved from crepe, satin, georgette, net to organza for some wildly flamboyant creations.
Ombre shading in purple and white with green edging appeared for minis, wide lapel collars were on short peplum blouses, there was an interesting collection of short jackets, waist coats, boleros and gilets embellished extravagantly with thread cord work or geormetric piping and banding for dresses. The thread weaving and the lattice work on the backs of dresses gave an utterly feminine look to the creations.
For the woman who wants a conversation stopping creation then it is Sougat Paul who will be able to make the perfect offering.
VIKRAMJIT CHOUDHURY ADDED STYLE AND GLAMOUR TO HIS COLLECTION
When the title is “The Yellow Journal” it has got nothing to do with the print media but this one surprisingly had everything to do with a fashion collection. Vikramjit Choudhury’s creations had this unusual name for the Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2010 show but the designer revealed that it was the inspiration of past chronicles that got him thinking.
So the colour scheme matched with black and yellow with a touch of emerald and cream and lots of prints which had that distinct romantic touch. There were beautifully embellished jackets, lots of dresses in superb silk, mul, chiffon, satin and velvet and to stay true to the theme there was fine vintage lace which added to the beauty of the garments.
The embroidery was lush floral and rose motifs on varying fabric textures while the prints matched the mood of the line. With yellow and black with emerald and cream the colours worked well for the collection.
Starting with sequined racer back vest and long printed cotton silk skirt, Vikramjit moved to corded and embroidered printed jacket, raglan sleeved zippered dress, double breasted jacket with the same treatment, all quilted satin and pleated noile trouser with chiffon shirt and tie up collar. The end was with a cotton printed maxi with silk skirt and printed embellished jacket.
For some interesting fashion that one can translate for any occasion “The Yellow Journal” collection by Vikramjit Choudhury will be the perfect choice.
