Baggy bottoms are all the rage in Europe but a tough sell here, even on Whyte Ave.Stop. It's Hammer time.
This fall, nothing can touch hammer pants, the baggy bottoms with the billowing hips and tapered ankles initially made popular by '80s rapper MC Hammer.
Updated for 2010, the trousers now better known as harem pants are being embraced both on the runway by designers like Chloe and Sonia Rykiel and on the streets by fashion-forward professionals.
But the slouchy slacks can be intimidating.
"To be quite honest, they're actually quite a hard sell," says Kristena Chernezky at Whyte Avenue's Nokomis. "I don't think it's for everyone, but they're definitely very big in Europe."
